Government College Umuahia (GCU), founded in 1929 by Robert Fisher and recently acquired from the government by the Old Boys and managed by a team of reputable Old Boys known as the Fisher Educational  Development Trust (FEDT), is an all boys, world class residential secondary school located in Umuahia, Abia State. GCU (as it is called) offers a combination of the British and Nigerian curricula with a focus on excellence. The school runs a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) focused curriculum whilst not disparaging the Art and Humanities.

We are a private international global school, and pride ourselves in our strong and distinguished Alumni who have excelled in their various careers, yet owe allegiance to the values, education, and strong heritage of Government College Umuahia. Employment Type: Full-time

Basic Requirements

  • B.Ed., B.Sc (ED), B.A, B.A (ED) / PGDE. PDE in relevant field of study. TRCN certification is an advantage.
  • 2-3 years minimum teaching experience at secondary school level in similar role.
  • Experience in both British and Nigerian Curricula.
  • Willing to relocate/work in Umuahia, Abia State.
  • Ability to integrate technology into classroom instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
