The List Of Five (5) UNISA Courses To Be Taught In Some TVET Colleges

The Minister of Higher Education and Training has recently approved a few Unisa courses to be taught at TVET Colleges. To find out which courses will be offered, scroll down.

Recently the Minister of Higher Education and Training has approved a few Unisa courses to be taught at the following TVET Colleges:

  • College of Cape Town
  • East Cape Midlands College
  • Ekurhuleni East College
  • Elangeni College
  • False Bay College
  • Gert Sibande College
  • Letaba College
  • NorthLink College
  • Umfolozi College
  • Port Elizabeth College
  • West Coast College
  • Western College
  • South Cape College

Five courses have been approved to be taught at these colleges, which include a Higher Certificate in Accounting Sciences, Higher Certificate in Banking, Higher Certificate in Economic and Management Sciences, Higher Certificate in Tourism Management, Higher Certificate in Adult Basic Education and Training.

The purpose of studying for a Higher Certificate in Accounting Sciences is to enable the student to perform basic functions under supervision in the Accounting Sciences field such as general bookkeeping, auditing and internal auditing, costing, and tax calculations. This qualification will be taught at Elangeni TVET College, Gert Sibande College, Port Elizabeth College, and Western College.

The Higher Certificate in Banking introduces students to the banking field which enables them to have a basic understanding of bank management theory and principles. Once the student graduates, they will be able to join an entry-level job within the financial services sector. This qualification will be offered at East Cape Midlands College, False Bay College, Gert Sibande College, Letaba College, NorthLink College, Port Elizabeth College, and Western College.

The purpose of studying Higher Certificate in Economic and Management Sciences is to introduce students to elementary concepts and principles of Economics, Business Management and Accounting. Students will improve their basic proficiency in English, basic numeracy skills, and general computer skills. This qualification will be provided to students at Elangeni TVET College, Umfolozi College, and West Coast College.

The Higher Certificate in Tourism Management will be offered at the College of Cape Town, East Cape Midlands College, Ekurhuleni East College, Elangeni TVET College, and Umfolozi College.

The Higher Certificate in Adult Basic Education and Training allows for the articulation into a Diploma in Adult Basic Education and Training. This qualification will be taught at Elangeni TVET College and South Cape College.
