How To Join The German Air Force In 2024

German Air Force is the aerial warfare division of the German Armed Forces, Bundeswehr. Founded in 1956 during the Cold War, the German Air Force was integrated as part of the former German Democratic Republic after the reunification of West and East Germany in 1990.

The current German Air Force has no link to the former Luftwaffe of the Wehrmacht which was founded in 1935 and abolished in 1946 after World War II.

Joining the German Air Force isn’t as difficult as we’d thought, it has become as easy as singing a nursery rhyme, however, you need to check the eligibility requirements to be sure you are fit for application.

Eligibility Requirements

1. Age

Any German citizen wishing to enter the military must be at least 17 years old, and if they are still underage, they require permission from their parents.

2. Height

The court ruled against a minimum height of 168 centimeters for male officers. The state lowered the requirement to 163 centimeters for recruits of both sexes.

3. Education

Applicants must have completed compulsory full-time education and have German citizenship.

4. Applicants must also be willing to participate in operations abroad after completion of training.
