New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is a public research university in Newark, New Jersey that was established in 1881 and has a satellite campus in Jersey City. NJIT’s establishment was with the support of local industrialists and inventors especially Edward Weston, it opened as Newark Technical School in 1885 with 88 students but as amassed over the years with battalions of students competing for admission.

NJIT is rated third in Bed Jersey and among the top 100 colleges and universities nationwide by the QS World University Ranking® 2021(that’s a blast) and is ranked No. 39 nationally by The Princeton Review as a Best Value College.

As earlier stated, admission is quite competitive yet, NJIT can permit you to be at average in your high school with a GPA of 3.59 and you can compensate with harder courses like a snap or IB classes if you have a lower GPA.

How To Get An Application Fee Waiver For NJIT

In order to be eligible, you must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum test scores: ACT score of 30 OR Old SAT score of 1300 OR New SAT score of 1370
  • GPA of a 90 or higher
  • Complete the NJIT Application through the Common App, including answering all questions pertaining to Dorman Honors College.

If you meet the requirements above for onsite admissions, NJIT will waive your application fee! On Common App there is an option to enter a fee waiver code in the NJIT section of the application. The code to enter is NJ22.

  • A printout of your completed online NJIT application
  • Application fee, if not paid online
  • The honors college essay

NJIT Admission Requirement

  • Application Portal: Common Application, Application Fee: 75 USD (~5,893 INR).
  • Academic transcripts
  • Letter of recommendation
  • Essay
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0/4 (85%)
  • Portfolio (for College of Architecture and Design)
  • Passport
  • English proficiency test scores

75th Percentile SAT Score – 1370 (Math: 700; Reading: 670)

How To Apply

Follow the guideline below to apply;

  • Open the common App webpage via the university’s webpage. Choose an option: Transfer Students, First year students etc..
  • Create an account if you’re opening for the first time by filling in your name and personal details to create account.
  • Log in and apply.

NJIT’s admission is categorized into three sessions: Early Admission, Fall, and Spring Intake. The deadlines for the admissions are as follows:

1. Early Admission: Mid-November

Rolling Admission – early March

2. Fall Regular Admission: Early Action I – mid-November

Early Action II – mid-December

Honors College – Early February

3. Spring Regular Admission
