How To Join The Canadian Special Operations Forces Command

The Canadian Special Operations Forces Command is a command of the Canadian Armed Forces, responsible for every Special Forces Operation that is directly linked with terrorism and threats to Canada and its delegates around the globe.

The CANSOFCOM is saddled with strategic responsibilities of providing advice on special operations to the chief of the defence staff (CDS) and other CAF operational commanders.

Generating mobilizable, special operations forces (SOF) who are set and ready for go capable of deploying as part of a broader CAF operation, or independently

Commanding and conducting SOF operations on behalf of the CDS

Continuously developing SOF capabilities and tactics

Maintaining and fostering relationships with Canadian security partners and allied special operations forces.

The CANSOFCOM personnel are equally mobilized, trained and organized for perspective tasks as follows;

  • Chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear (CBRN) crisis reinforcement
  • Rescue of hostage
  • Direct action
  • Sensitive site exploitation
  • Fighting off weapons of mass destruction
  • Maritime special operations
  • Support for non-combatant evacuation operations
  • Special protection operations
  • Defence, diplomacy and military assistance

The CANSOFCOM is made up of highly skilled man power that capable of Parachuting onto ground or into water, Climbing ladders and cliffs, Rappelling, Conducting close-quarters battle (CQB); and Battle drills in varying types of terrain and climatic conditions day or night.

Basic Requirements To Join The CANSOFCOM.

Below are the basic requirements to join or apply for the CANSOFCOM

  • Minimum two years’ military service for Regular forces;
  • Minimum three years’ military service for Reserve forces.
  • Obtain security clearance.
  • Obtain approval from chain of command;
  • Complete Pre-Screening Physical Fitness Test (Section 3.2).
  • Pass appropriate medical examination:
  • MOSID 00369, Special Forces Operator: V 2, CV 2, H 3, G 2, O 2, A 5.
  • Be parachute-trained or willing to undertake parachute training.

How To Apply

Civilians or those who have no prior knowledge of military operations may not be eligible for application. However, the procedure for application can be carried out on the official webpage or by contacting the CANSOFCOM office.
