The UNCF STEM Scholars Program is an initiative designed to identify and provide scholarship and academic support for students who aspire to earn STEM degrees and to pursue careers in STEM fields, awarding 75 scholarships. The program enables highly capable young people to pursue undergraduate STEM majors and prepares them for successful careers in a variety of STEM professions.

As a Scholar, you can:
- Receive up to $25,000 in tiered scholarship support over your undergraduate years, helping close the gap after other aid is applied.
- Access academic support, mentoring, and career guidance designed to help you graduate and compete for top STEM careers.
- Become part of a powerful national network of high‑achieving STEM students and professionals from historically underserved communities.
- Qualify for funding for approved STEM‑related internships, which can include a stipend of up to $5,000 in some program versions.
Eligibility
You should consider applying if you:
- Are a high school senior or college freshman planning to enroll full time in a U.S. college or university.
- Plan to major in a STEM field such as biology, chemistry, computer science, engineering, mathematics, or other science and technology disciplines.
- Are from a historically underserved group in STEM (for example African American, Hispanic American, Asian Pacific Islander American, American Indian/Alaskan Native).
- Have a strong academic record (typically at least a 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale) and have taken rigorous math and science courses, including pre‑calculus.
- Are a U.S. citizen, national, or permanent resident and can demonstrate financial need.
