NDA General Admission Requirements
Prospective Cadets applying for admission into the Nigerian Defence Academy must also apply to the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and must select the Nigerian Defence Academy as the First Choice of Institution. Such applicants are expected to sit for JAMB UNIFIED TERTIARY MATRICULATION EXAMINATIONS (UTME)
Candidates eligible for 73 Regular Course admissions into the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) must have the following:
- Must be medically and physically fit and must be of good moral character.
- Must be single male or female without legal obligation to support any child or other individuals.
- Present a Certificate of indigeneship from the state government or local government area.
- Be at least 17 years old and NOT more than 21 years old as of September in the year of entry into the Academy.
- Must have a minimum of 5 ordinary level credits at GCE, SSCE (WAEC, NECO, NBAIS, and NABTEB) English language, Mathematics, and three other subjects that are relevant to the intended programme at not more than two sittings.
- Must have passed the Unified Tertiary Matriculation examinations (UTME) and attain an acceptable minimum national standard (as determined by the JAMB annual policy meeting) in English language, Mathematics, and any other 2 subjects relevant to the proposed course of study as set out by the JAMB Brochure.
- Must NOT be less than 1.68 meters tall for males and 1.65 meters for females.
- French and Arabic, Mandarin language is an added advantage.

- Candidates for FASS: Candidates for FASS are to answer all questions in any THREE of the following subjects that apply to the candidate’s chosen course:
1) Mathematics – (Compulsory for Psychology candidates).
(2) Economics.
(3) Geography.
(4) History.
(5) Government.
(6) French.
(7) Biology – (Compulsory for Psychology candidates). - Candidates for Sciences: Candidates for courses in the Faculty of Science are to answer questions as follows:
- Mathematics (Mathematics and any 2 of Physics, Chemistry and Economics).
- Physics (Physics and any 2 of Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology).
- Chemistry (Chemistry and any 2 of Physics, Biology and Mathematics).
- Biology (Biology and any 2 of Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics).
- Candidates for Engineering: Candidates for the Faculty of Engineering are to answer ALL questions in the 3 subjects listed below:
(1) Mathematics.
(2) Physics.
(3) Chemistry. - Candidates for Military Science and Interdisciplinary Studies: Candidates for Intelligence & Cyber Security Studies are to answer the following:
- Mathematics
- Physics and
- Anyone of Biology, Chemistry, or Economics.
Please note that only those with duly printed Examination Cards will be admitted into the various centres for the test.
