The history of Nakuru can perhaps be traced to the prehistoric period due to the archaeological discoveries located about 8 km from the Central Business District at the Hyrax Hill reserve. Nakuru is Kenya’s 4th largest urban centre with a population of 570,674. (The modern town, as with many others in Kenya, derives its name from the ‘Maasai‘ speaking people of Kenya.) Nakuru was established by the British as part of the White highlands during the colonial era and it has continued growing into a cosmopolitan city. It received township status in 1904 and became a municipality in 1952.

Job Title: Instructor III (51 Posts)

Job Type: Full Time

For appointment to this position a candidate must;

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Have KCSE mean grade C plain and Diploma in any of the following disciplines: Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Electrical & Electronics, Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy, Fashion and Design, Carpentry & Joinery, Metal Processing & Fabrication and Computer Studies/Science/ Information and Communication Technology from a recognized institution

OR

  • Have KCSE ‘D–’ and Craft or Trade Test Grade I certificate in any of the following disciplines: Motor Vehicle Mechanics, Electrical & Electronics, Hair Dressing and Beauty Therapy, Fashion and Design, Carpentry & Joinery, Metal Processing & Fabrication and Computer Studies/Science/Information and Communication Technology from a recognized institution.
  • Have an Instructors’ course (MANDATORY); and
  • Be proficient in Computer Applications;

Duties and Responsibilities

  • This is the entry and training grade for the Vocational Training Instructors with diploma qualifications. An Instructor at this level will work under the guidance of a senior Instructor.

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;

  • Theoretical and practical instruction in the area of specialization
  • Preparing and maintaining schemes of work, lesson plans, lesson notes, trainee records, training and learning materials
  • Carrying out trainee assessments, administering examinations and preparing progress reports
  • Ensuring proper care and maintenance of tools and equipment
  • Conducting co–curricular activities and maintaining trainees’ discipline
  • Other duties assigned by the head of the institution.

Job Title: ECDE Teacher II (300 Posts)

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: KCSE

Job Field: Education / Teaching

For appointment to this position a candidate must;

  • Be a Kenyan citizen;
  • Have Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) minimum grade D+ (Plus) or KCE division IV at ‘O’ Level;
  • Have a Certificate in Early Childhood Development Education offered by KNEC/Ministry of Education or its approved equivalent. (Teachers who have served for a minimum period of three years in public ECDE centres in the County and are in possession of KSCE grade D–(minus) and a Certificate in ECDE from the Ministry of Education or KNEC are eligible);
  • Be Registered by Teachers Service Commission;
  • Be proficient in Computer Applications;
  • Have a certificate of Good Conduct.

Duties and Responsibilities

Duties and responsibilities at this level will entail;

  • Class teaching;
  • Role modelling, guidance and counselling, mentoring and motivation of the learners;
  • Preparing reports;
  • Ensuring the safety and security of the learners;
  • Assist in designing, organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for learners;
  • Assist in organizing and facilitating play/learning activities for the learners;
  • Caring and nurturing spiritual, moral, social, mental, physical, aesthetic and emotional growth of the learners (holistic development);
  • Managing ECDE classes and keeping professional and administrative records (schemes of work, lesson plans, daily programme of activities, attendance registers etc.) and ensuring learners’ safety and security; and
  • Preparing and developing play/learning materials.

Job Title: Security Warden III (189 Posts) Re-Advertisement

Job Type: Full Time

Qualification: KCSE

Location: Nakuru

Job Field: Security / Intelligence

For appointment to this position a candidate;

  • Must have a Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education with a minimum grade of D plain or its equivalent qualifications;
  • Be between 20 to 35 years of age;
  • Be physically, medically and mentally fit;
  • Be in possession of a valid Certificate of Good Conduct issued by Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI); and
  • Having undergone paramilitary training at Kenya National Youth Service will be an added advantage.

Duties and Responsibilities

Before deployment, direct entrants will undergo three (3) months initial training as Security Warden III and on successful completion of their training their duties and responsibilities will involve:

  • Patrol and guard access points;
  • Detention of unauthorized persons and vehicles from entering premises and /or protected areas; and
  • Control crowds, collect information and report on matters of security interest.
