About KEMRI
The Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) is a State Corporation established in Kenya in 1979 through the Science and Technology (Repealed) Act, Cap 250 of the Laws of Kenya operated under the Science Technology and Innovation Act, 2013 as the national body responsible for carrying out research in human health in Kenya. Currently, KEMRI operates under Legal Notice No. 35 of March 2021.
Eligibility And Duration
- The Institute attachment program runs on a quarterly basis and our intakes are in the Months of January, April, July, and October.
- Only attaches from Government recognized Training Institutions shall be eligible for intake.
- Attachments opportunities are offered to students during final year or year proceeding the final year of study.
- Attachment shall be undertaken only once during the course.
Mistake To Avoid While Applying For KEMRI Attachment

Application Requirements
1. Students are required to make applications at least one (1) month prior to the attachment period.
Application letters should enclose;-
- Valid letter from learning institution,
- Day time telephone contact
- Details of an Accident Insurance Cover
- Application letters to be addressed to: The Director General-KEMRI, (Attn: Training Office).

- He/she must be a person of integrity, demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills and be a team player;
- Strong managerial skills, including motivating, developing, coaching and leading team
- Demonstrated high ethical standards;
- Competent and organized;
- Excellent communication skills;
- Ability to work in a team-modulated and collaborative environment.

- Attachment is provided to students from Government recognized learning institutions.
- All applications must be done online; hard copy applications will not be accepted.
