Like every other African country, Kenya believes in a free and fair election and in the votes of its citizens which was why the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) of Kenya, with aid from the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES) alongside the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in 2017 produced voter education videos, a video that provided information on voters registration.

How To Go About Kenya Voters Registration

To register, you need an original national ID card or a valid Kenyan passport. You need to be equally present at any of the registration centers within your constituency.

How To Check OR Confirm Your IEBC Registration Online

It’s a very simple DIY (Do It Yourself) process; however, if you need to be available at a cyber cafe to do this because of certain issues, you’ll need to;

1. Visit voter verification official website portal: http://voterstatus.iebc.or.ke/voter

2. Enter your ID number and click the search button. The website will load your following registration details;

  • ID/ Passport Number of voter registration
  • Primary and Secondary Name of voter registration
  • Birth Date
  • Gender
  • Polling Station Code of voter registration
  • Polling Station of voter registration
  • County of voter registration
  • Constituency of voter registration
  • Ward of voter registration

However, if you find this a bit uncomfortable, you could also verify your voter registration by simply sending your ID number to this code 70000.
